Stephen was born in 1719 in Strassbourg, Alsace Lorraine, Germany (now France).

He came to America on September 22, 1752 aboard the ship "Brothers" with Captain William Muir from Rotterdam.

He marrried Catharina Sprecher (Spaker) in about 1759. They had 11 children, 2 died young. About 1764-1765 they moved to North Carolina. (Her Family moved there about 1761.) They settled in the Rowan, North Carolina area. Catharina died in the late 1770's and Stephen married her sister Elizabeth. They had 4 children. They settled in Cripple Creek on the Zion Road (presently route 651) about 1779. He died August 10, 1799 in Virginia and is probably buried in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, near his home.

Parents of Catharina and Elizabeth were Johan Christopher Sprecher and Maria Ernestine Beck.

Catherine Gose b. 1766 probably in Rowan County, North Carolina, m. Nov. 22, 1791 to George Kesling.

Unnamed Twin died at birth in 1766.
